Why do it?

It is well known that the internet is growing at a massive rate as content is added and an increasing variety and volume of devices connect. The search and discovery of relevant information persists as a critical success factor for many reasons.

The cost of not finding information is simply too high, and the opportunities lost, are hard to ignore.

An ongoing consideration is that the internet appears not to have any fixed-boundaries. Conceptually this may be true, but practically the concerns need to focus on the ability to consume and effectively use information. Additionally the volume and variability of data held within organisations expands. With this increasing at an unprecedented level of growth, it becomes harder to find and to be found.
