Founded by David Eccles and Ian Allaway, Wallscope was incorporated in 2014 to develop technologies associated with ‘big data’ – data sets that are so large or complex that traditional data processing applications are inadequate to deal with them. Ian and David already run a successful web application development business and have worked together for over 15 years.
Our focus is on the application of Artificial Intelligence using semantic web techniques and linked data principles to improve the search and discovery of information. We are motivated to lower the barriers for accessing knowledge to improve the health, wealth and sustainability of the world we share.
We have developed and proven our service through a number of sector-specific case studies – for example in the NHS and the University of Edinburgh’s Design Informatics Department – and in both 2016 and 2017 were selected to take part in the Scottish Government’s CivTech programme. This is a technology accelerator that supports businesses offering innovative solutions to challenges faced by the public sector.
We're currently working with the Scottish Government as well as cultural, financial and academic institutions, to embed our technology within organisations where it can really make a difference.
